Children
Bible teaching, games, crafts, drama and music at our Drummond School gatherings.
One third of our church are children. On two Sundays in a month, a team of dedicated, PVG approved, Christian leaders runs groups for them when we gather in Drummond School. These groups learn from the bible together and share games and crafts. We usually share the first 20 minutes of our services with all ages together, before the children go to their groups.
Our experience is that some of the best learning and growing as followers of Jesus happens when older and younger people share worship and learning together. So on the other Sundays in a month, we have all age worship gatherings. On some Sundays, we do this around food in the school dining room. On other Sundays, we split into interactive bible learning groups for all ages – from games to craft to drama to video production to discussion groups – there’s all sorts of ways we learn God’s Word together.
We make sure that our children are gathered with the rest of us for the big moments of celebration we have as church – when we have baptisms, share communion or have people becoming members of the church. We believe these things are for all God’s people, of every age, to share together.
We have a joint church youth group with Hilton Church, where those in S1-S6 in our churches get together on Sunday evenings for food, games and bible discussion. Leaders from both churches run this group together.
For our pre-school aged children, we offer a creche each Sunday, except when we have an all age worship gathering. This is delivered by our dedicated, PVG approved, Christian early years workers and volunteers. On those Sundays in which we have all age worship gatherings, there will be toys set up in a corner of the room, which youngsters and their carers are welcome to use during the service.
