Discovering and sharing infinitely fuller life in Jesus

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”

John 10:10

WELCOME

Welcome to St Columba Church!

We’re a church in Inverness who believe that Jesus makes an infinite difference to life.

Along with other churches here, we want to share this truth with the people of Inverness and Dores, through our daily lives and our Sunday gatherings.

Come

Gather and Discover

Jesus invites us to come.

He arrived in this world claiming that He was the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). 2,000 years later, millions continue to discover that He was – and is – telling the truth.

You’re invited to come and discover who Jesus is and how He changes lives forever. To find forgiveness, hope, identity and life in Jesus. We are here because we’re discovering that together, and we’d love you to join in.

Our church is a real spread of ages and backgrounds. Young, old, single, families, healthy, sick, rich, poor, different nationalities and ethnicities, different church backgrounds or none – what we have in common is discovering and sharing life in Jesus.

We meet at Drummond School every Sunday at 10.30am to worship God with modern praise music, hear the Bible read, hear stories of how God is at work in the lives of people here and now, and to pray with and for each other.

Twice a month, we learn in different age groups – sermons with discussion for the adults, and groups for our primary and secondary school children. There’s tea and coffee and conversation for a good while at the end.

On other Sundays in the month, we get together in all age gatherings – eating breakfast and discussing a bible passage, or getting together to pray and sing before heading out into our community to do something to be a blessing there.

You are very welcome! It doesn’t matter whether you’ve never been to church before or you’ve been a thousand times – all are invited to join us as we hear Jesus’ open invitation to ‘come.

We gather in other ways at different times – offering Alpha courses for people to explore what belief in Jesus means. Gathering to pray, including with other churches. A Sunday evening youth group for secondary age young people. A daytime bible study group.

Perhaps you’d just like to start with a chat on the phone, or meeting for a coffee? For that, or to find out more about gathering with us, just get in touch with our minister, Scott McRoberts:

Go

Scatter and Share

Jesus commands us to go.

The Bible tells us about what ‘Jesus began to do and teach’ when He walked this world (Acts 1:1), and what work He continues to do by His Holy Spirit, through His Church, in this day.

The Church is called to be people who join with Jesus.  People who give up our old lives and find a new life united with Jesus through faith in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).  And people who join in with the mission Jesus had to bring God’s Kingdom to this world.

Teaching all we’ve learned from Him.  Sharing good news.  Fighting injustice.  Making peace.  Transforming cultures in the workplace and the neighbourhood.  Speaking and showing grace.

We don’t put on projects or programmes. We don’t drown the middle of our weeks with church meetings. Instead, we help people to realise the places God has already put them in life, where they can go and make Jesus known in word and deed.

We help people partner up with others with the same passion, workspace or neighbourhood. So that like the disciples Jesus sent into the world, we’re doing that side by side with others.

We equip, encourage and release people to share Jesus with others where they already are. We pray for that in our Sunday gatherings, and hear stories about it. We help people think through:

What’s in your heart? What’s in your hands? What’s God saying to you? What are you going to do about it?

We have a small Discipleship Team whose role is to help people with this.

There are times in the year we get together as one big team to serve and reach out to the community with the truth and love of Jesus. From serving in big events in the city of Inverness to special times of good news outreach in our local community.

To find out more about how we support scattering in everyday mission, and what we pull together for through the year as a whole church, contact our minister Scott McRoberts:
