Today’s devotion comes from Will.

Moving from the everyday🤨 to “Delight”😁

Read Psalm 1:1-3

Walk, stand and sit. Walk stand sit. Walk stand sit. That’s how most of our days look. It can be easy to have day after day of walk stand and sit.
The Psalm offers something altogether different, “Delight” and “meditate”. I think as Christians with our heads down we can subtly find that we are walking in step with the wicked or standing in the way that sinners or siting in the company of mockers, this often happens in ways that are subversive to our faith and hard to even identify.

Today I  point you to the solution we all need. It’s written right at the start of the psalms, “Delight” and “meditate”. But whose “delight” is in the law of the Lord, and who “meditates” on his law day and night. [3] That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. … The object of our delight and meditation is to be the “law of the lord”. As we immerse ourselves in God’s ways and his patterns we are being planted like a tree by streams of water. What a fantastic picture. This will not happen by simply walking, standing and sitting our way through life. That’s a recipe for our life to be burdened with sin. We need to learn to delight and meditate on God’s law. Day and night.

If you feel stumped about how to do that, start simple. Pray: “God help me to “delight” in your ways and “meditate” on your Law” Amen

Pause and let that sink in……

Now choose a portion of a Psalm (psalms 1-10 are a perfect place to start) maybe a few verses and read it over and over several times  listening for God’s voice as you chew it over in your mind.

So you have done it, you’ve delighted and meditated on Gods law, embedding this in your life will bring life, keep up the good work.
