Today’s devotion comes from Louise Macfarlane.
Read 2 Chronicles 29:1-11, 18-19, 31-36

“Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced at what God had brought about for his people, because it was done so quickly” 29:36

After a series of kings who abandoned the Lord’s way, leading the people of Judah astray, Hezekiah, aged twenty-five, ascended the throne. He ‘did right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done’ 29:2.

Hezekiah set about purifying the temple and restoring praise, worship and sacrifice to the Lord. ‘….they sang praises and worshipped with gladness’ 29:30 and ‘all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings’. 29:31

And ‘So the service of the temple of the Lord was re-established’. Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced at what God had brought about for his people, because it was done so quickly’. 29:35-36. Just like that.

Friends, know that your God is all-powerful and can do anything. Jesus is the gate to God. Let’s boldly pray that this nation will again turn wholeheartedly, by a great move of the Holy Spirit, to our Father God, through Jesus Christ. Pray that in humbly turning to him, he will rescue us from the coronavirus epidemic. Our Lord can do this. Let’s not doubt this in our hearts, but ask him to help us pray in accordance with his will. He will amaze us with what he brings about when we do this.

Father God, we set ourselves apart to be yours and yours alone.  Help us get rid of everything that you want us to get rid of.  Help us to go after everything you want us to go after.  Cleanse us, purify us, make us whole – and bring us healing.  Deliver us from Coronavirus so swiftly and suddenly that nobody could mistake that it’s you doing it with the undeniable power of the LORD.  Do in your time, God – but astonish us at the right time.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
